The Dispersal Dance?

Two peeps in the street are defined as a "group", targets to be dispersed.

Anerley Vale resident interview

It's been quite difficult documenting my conversations with and the opinions of young people in the area. They are wary of me as a represntative of authority and are always checking i'm not CID and don't want me to record what they say! This has been a shame because of all the groups i've been working with the youth have provided the most brilliant and surprising expression of their environment…and offer the most optimism and commitment to the area.

A young resident did agree to talk to me, see this short clip.

Other crime signs in other places

I'm collecting pictures of these crime signs now as I go along. This one, not in a Dispersal Zone, is in Grove Rd, Mile End. No mention of the scary 'others' who might steal your phone, a be streetwise reminder.

I'm finding Crime signs in some suprising places. Like this notice in the cafeteria at Southwark Cathedral. Could this be a candidate for a Dispersal Zone?

RCA Interim Show

And so the Design Interactions Interim Show came to an end yesterday. 2 days to put up, 3 minutes to take down!

The show seemed to go down well, taking quite a few people/groups round the show on various days I appreciated the diversity of the issues/approaches covered by Design Interactions - there was something to interest everyone!

Personally speaking I was glad to get something up that looked OK - i'm usually so messy. Mainly it was useful to see if anyone else might be interested in Dispersal Zones, and from all the people I talked to, it seemed to be, especially the more general issue of anto-social behaviour - which is just everywhere at the moment of great concern to many.
